THe Black River Stages STORY
Black River Stages started in the 90s as an SCCA Pro Rally event and continued in the 2000s with NASA Rally Sport in it’s early days. It ran most years in that span, even serving as the championship round of the NASA Rally Sport National series in 2016, running two separate rally routes for cars and bikes. It ran with NASA Rally Sport until the last year in 2021.
It was also the first event to run a Motorcycle as a course car with your current organizer running as Bike 00.

The Return of Black River Stages
Black River Stages is often spoken of fondly by many rally competitors and volunteers due to the unique roads and long rally history in the region. The latest organizer, Perry Seaman, also volunteered there and built a bit of personal history with the event in it’s last 5 years or so. After watching and waiting for other attempts to run the event play out, Perry traveled to the area in 2025 and began to rebuild relationships with the towns and others to get the event back on the NASA Rally Sport Schedule.
The Plan for 2026 is to run a small event with just a few roads, to begin rebuilding local enthusiasm, volunteer staff, and to show the rally community that the recent history of cancellations for this event are over. Due to the time it took to get things aligned and the dates that work in the overall east coast rally schedule, the 2026 event was announced relatively short notice at about 9 weeks out. For 2027, the event will be settled into a date and announced as part of the normal NRS schedule late in 2026. We hope to grow the event back to using the best roads in the region again within the first few years and offer it as a solid regional stage rally event in the Northeast again.
local benefits of Black river stages
Like all of the races sanctioned by NASA Rally Sport, the economic impact of bringing in a typical 100+ people from out of town to stay in local hotels, buy local fuel, and eat at local restaurants provides a significant benefit to the communities we race in. We are happy to encourage this benefit in exchange for access to local roads and facilities for the race weekend.
